Let's Be Real When It's Real Hot
A quick check-in and invitation to follow your curiosity, laugh when you can, and connect with people in real ways
*Tap-tap-tap* Is this thing on?
How’s everyone doing? The heat and chaos of this first weekend of summer left me sweating, exhausted, and whimpering in my favorite cozy chair by the end of the day on Sunday. But there was also joy!
On Saturday, my new coaching service, “The Creativity Coach Is In,” debuted at a darling local cafe and shop called The Whimsy Mercantile. While sitting at my table, I coached a couple of folks, chatted with several people about what creativity coaching is and how it works, and promoted Scribble, Scribble, the writing retreat happening in Delhi, NY on July 25th-28th (spaces still available).
Connection, laughter, and curiosity led me into a delightful day that brimmed with inspiration and happiness! Which was great because part of that Sunday chair whimpering was an introvert’s hangover from extroverting a bit too much.
So, during this summer, I’m encouraging you to follow your curiosity, laugh when you can, and tconnect with people in real ways. Need ideas on how to do that? Here are a few hints:
Go to an outdoor space populated with other people. Maybe a park, an outdoor cafe, or even the front yard of your living space.
Follow your curiosity about something that feels silly but continues to rise to the top of your mind. You know—that thing that’s like an earworm but an idea instead of a song.
Share your story about being inspired by a piece of art, or the one about the event that made you feel like a thriving creative (even if only for a moment). Submit that story here and use it to connect with this lovely group of people.
Are you reading Tiny Experiments? Create one of Le Cunff’s pacts (I will [action] for [duration]) with the intent of increasing the amount of delight in your life.
Stay cool by participating in something chilly like a dive into a nearby pool or eating ice cream at a roadside stand.
But also, if you are grieving right now, please don’t feel pressured to do any of these things. Rather, give yourself space to engage with your grief. The only way out of that sadness is to move through it. Forcing the timing on that transformation from who you were before to who you are now can cause wounds and delay. Be soft with yourself and engage with whatever feels healing.
Have these hints inspired other ideas on how to enjoy this potentially crazy summer? Share in the comments!
With Hope for a Delightful Summer!
